Come On Gals, Let's Go Steelhead Fishing - Oh Yeah

Clearwater Steelhead

For many years I waved goodbye to my son and husband as they set off for their annual Clearwater River steelhead fishing trips. I loved seeing them prepare for their trip, and then hear the stories of the fishing adventures when they returned with delicious steelhead. At that time I didn’t fish. I thought I was just too busy and fishing didn’t really interest me. Then one summer's day while floating down the South Fork of the Snake River with my husband and friends, my friend Karen Adler encouraged me to just try to do some fly fishing. I tried it and I was hooked. I loved fly fishing for trout, or any type of fish that would take my fly. One year as fall approached with warm days and cool nights it was once again time for a trip to the Clearwater. That year I gave it a second thought, maybe I would love steelhead fishing just as much as I loved fly fishing, I decided to give it a try. I took time off from work and headed north with the family. At first I had a hard time feeling if the steelhead was hitting my gear or if it was the river bottom but soon I got it. I am not a great fisherman but I love it and have had the best time bringing in many of these powerful, beautiful steelhead. So, if you think you might enjoy fishing, you should plan a trip to the Clearwater River. Book a trip with Clearwater River Company, LLC (clearwaterrivercompany.com or call 866-846-4240) and reap the benefits of professional guides that put you into steelhead. I have wondered for quite some time why I haven’t seen more women on the river. Come on girls let’s go steelhead fishing!
